The rules we hold ourselves to, and what a brand can and cannot ask of us.
Editorial independence is the only thing that makes a recommendation worth reading. These are the rules, in full.
Independence
No brand, agency or affiliate partner sees a piece before publication, approves copy, or has any say in a rating. We decline requests to remove criticism, and we decline requests to add a product to a guide it did not earn a place in.
Corrections
Where we get something wrong we correct it in place and add a dated note at the foot of the piece. We do not quietly edit and move on.
Updates
Guides are revisited every six months and after any product change. When a former pick stops being our pick, we say so at the top of the piece.
