About Decor Imperial
Who we are, how we are funded, and what we will and will not publish.
Decor Imperial is an independent editorial publication about homes and the objects inside them. We are not a shop. Nothing on this site is for sale here, and we do not take payment to recommend anything.
What we cover
Home and interiors sit at the centre of what we do — furniture, rugs, lighting, bedding, and the decisions people actually agonise over when a room is not working. Around that sits the kitchen: cookware, small appliances, the things that get used every day and wear out in public. Beyond that we write about sleep, and about the everyday objects that make up a considered life, which is where our clothing and beauty coverage belongs.
The connecting thread is not a category. It is a question: is this thing worth owning, and who is it actually for?
Who this is for
Readers who are about to spend real money on something they will live with for years, and who want the case against a product as clearly as the case for it. We are not interested in writing for the reader who wants to be told that everything is excellent.
We write for readers in the United Kingdom, the United States and across Europe. Where a product is sold differently in those markets — a different price, a different warranty, a different shop — the review says so rather than quietly assuming one of them.
How the work is done
We are a research desk, not a testing lab, and we say so on every review. We do not buy every product we write about and we do not run timed trials in a workshop. What we do instead is read the entire public record on a product — far more of it than any one buyer has time for — and turn it into a straight answer.
That record means verified buyer reviews at scale rather than the handful a brand chooses to display; independent testing from publications that do buy and test, named in the piece wherever we lean on their findings; owner forums, which is where the fault that only appears after six months actually gets discussed; and the brand's own warranty, specifications and returns policy, which are the parts almost nobody reads before buying and the parts that decide how it feels to own the thing.
Where an editor has lived with something themselves, the review says so. Where nobody here has touched it, the review does not pretend otherwise. Our review methodology sets out exactly how a product gets into a guide, how we score, and where the evidence runs out.
Who writes it
Reviews are published under the Decor Imperial editorial desk rather than a single byline, because the research, the drafting and the checking are not usually one person's work. The writers, designers and specialists who contribute are named, with their own professional profiles, on our editorial team page.
How we are paid
By affiliate commission on links our editors choose, and by nothing else. It costs you nothing. It does not change a rating, it does not change the order products appear in, and the editor writing a piece cannot see what any link pays. We do not publish sponsored posts, we do not sell placements in guides, and we decline requests to remove criticism. The full position is set out in our affiliate disclosure, and the rules we hold ourselves to are in our editorial policy.
When we get it wrong
We correct it in place and add a dated note at the foot of the piece. Prices and availability change constantly; prices are re-checked automatically and carry the date they were read. If you find something out of date or wrong, tell us — corrections are the one kind of message we would rather have today than next week.
Who runs it
Decor Imperial is independently published — no group, no parent company, no investor with a view on what we recommend. Editorial enquiries and corrections: support@decorimperial.com. You can also reach us through the contact form.
